What is going on with the teenagers? Four abortions for a 14-year-old girl? It is ridiculous! Whom to be blamed for the act? Parents or the society? Hubby and I had put much effort in order to get pregnant, however the little girl already had four abortion! I can't imagine how bad the society had become. I must put extra effort on my coming daughter!!!

SEPANG: A 14-year-girl who gave birth to a stillborn at home has admitted to having had four abortions.

The teenager, who lives with her family in a shop house at Pulau Meranti here, was found by her parents on Monday night looking pale. They were shocked to see her bleeding profusely and informed a relative, who lodged a police report.

When the police arrived, they found a stillborn baby in a yellow plastic bag in the girl’s room. The girl then admitted that she had given birth to the baby. She also admitted to have had aborted four previous pregnancies.

Sepang OCPD Supt Imran Abdul Rahman confirmed that police were investigating the matter.

Eating out usually means that we have little control over how the food is prepared or how large the portion is. Foods eaten out tend to be higher in fat. I have no idea whether protein pudding is one of them. But I will share with you general tips on eating out healthily.

If you're unsure as to what something is, or what it contains - ask! If the waiter/waitress doesn't know, then the chef will.
Think ahead, if you know you're eating out later and it could be a lavish affair, choose wisely earlier in the day to keep calories, fat, sugar and salt intakes under control.
Don't eat an extra course just to be polite.
Only order a sweet after the main course, and only if still hungry. Opt for sorbets, or fruit dishes to balance out a heavy main course.
Think about sharing a course with a companion if the portions look large.
Speak up about how you'd like a dish prepared eg ask for no mayonnaise, dressing on the side.
You're more likely to overeat at an 'all you can eat' style buffet.
Choose side orders of salad or vegetables to fill up on.
Cut off any visible fat from meat to keep saturated fat intake down.
Look out for smaller portions ie a main meal option as a starter size.
Opt for dishes which are grilled, baked, steamed, poached or cooked in own juice rather than fried.
Check the menu for dressings on salads and ask for it to be served separately. An otherwise healthy and nutritious salad could be drowned in a high fat sauce, bumping up its calorie content.
Avoid cheese, cream or butter-based sauces.
If you're a cheese lover, think about sharing the cheese board option to keep saturated fat, salt and calorie intakes in check.

Since I'm pregnant, I will put more effort on my nutrition intake. And I have found the healthy living pyramid. Thus I don't have to take protien bars.

The Healthy Living Pyramid (HLP) was developed to provide a simple guide to planning the types of foods we should eat and in what proportions different foods should be consumed. The pyramid represents food from the core food groups only. That is, it shows meat, fish, chicken, eggs, nuts, bread, cereals, vegetables, legumes, fruit, milk, etc. We all know though that during meals we do not eat core food groups alone - we combine several of them together to create a meal. For example, we mix meat with vegetables to make a stew or casserole, eggs with milk and sugar to make custard or flour with oil, cheese, vegetables and meat to make a pizza. Although the pyramid can’t show all possible food combination, mixing foods and adding herbs and spices to create appealing flavors can help us enjoy foods in the variety needed whilst keeping to the proportions outlined in the Pyramid.

The Healthy Living Pyramid encourages food variety and a diet of minimum fat, adequate fibre, limited salt and sufficient water that is balanced with physical activity. The ‘Move More' base of the Pyramid shows moving legs to remind us that physical activity is an essential part of the energy balance equation that should be combined with healthy eating.

What causes cancer?

Cancer is essentially a disease of the cells, where individual cells become abnormal and multiply out of control. Cancer can occur in any of the cells in the body, as everything in our body, including our organs, bones, muscles, skin and blood, is made up of millions of tiny cells.

If cancer occurs in the cells of the skin, then the person has skin cancer; if it is in the cells of the breast, then it is breast cancer.

Cancer starts from the genes of one abnormal cell. In a normal cell, there are genes that control how the cell divides and multiplies – a cell becomes abnormal if those genes are damaged or mutated. This causes the cell to start multiplying out of control, to form a cancerous (or malignant) tumour. This tumour may form a lump or a patch of cells that can be seen on a scan.

Every person has a risk of developing cancer, simply because we are made up of cells. There is nothing that can completely prevent cancers from developing because nature cannot be controlled.

However, there are certain biological, environmental and lifestyle risk factors that increase the likelihood of cell mutations. These could range from cigarette smoke and asbestos, to certain viruses.

If you reduce these risk factors in your life, you would contribute towards dramatically diminishing the chances of getting cancer. In other words, don’t give your cells a chance to go bad!

Cancer triggers

We all know that smoking leads to lung cancer. This is because cigarettes and cigarette smoke contain cancer-causing substances that are carcinogenic, like benzenes or ammonia. These carcinogens, which turn cells cancerous, are one of the main causes of cancer.

The longer the duration, and the greater the amount of carcinogens that you are exposed to, the greater your risk of developing cancer. The most commonly known carcinogens are tobacco smoke (causes cancer of the lung, mouth, throat, oesophagus, bladder and pancreas), asbestos (causes mesothelioma), and radiation from UV rays or radioactive materials.

Certain viruses and bacteria can also lead to cancer. This doesn’t mean that you can “catch” a cancer the same way you catch a viral influenza. What happens is that the virus or the bacteria causes cell mutations that lead to cancer.

The hepatitis B and C viruses can increase the risk of liver cancer, while the human papillomavirus (HPV) can lead to abnormalities in the cervical and genital cells that may become cancerous after several years.

There are vaccinations for hepatitis B and HPV, so that can protect yourself from these infections. Furthermore, women should have regular Pap smears to pick up any possible HPV infection and treat it early.

One type of bacteria known to play a role in cancer is Helicobacter pylori, which infects the stomach lining and eventually leads to inflammation and increased risk of cancer. H. pylori infection can be treated with antibiotics.

Lifestyle factors

Some risk factors for cancer are beyond our control. For instance, age increases the likelihood of cancer, but we cannot stop the hands of time from advancing. You are more likely to develop cancer the older you get, because the mutations in the cells take a long time to develop and turn into cancerous cells.

When you are older, your body’s immune system is also weaker and less able to resist the development of abnormal cells or repair them. This is the same reason that certain types of cancer are more likely in people with weakened immune systems, like organ transplant patients who take immunosuppressive medications, people living with HIV and AIDS, or those who have disorders that affect their immunity.

There has been a lot of debate in recent years about whether your diet and physical activity has an impact on cancer development. Increasingly, scientists are starting to say “yes”, as research shows that certain foods have cancer-protective properties, while others can increase the risk of cancer.

Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that strengthen the body’s immune system and protect it from damage caused by age, the food we eat, and environmental factors. All the different-coloured fruits and vegetables, such as green broccoli, orange carrots, red cabbage, blueberries and purple eggplant, contain unique compounds that may protect against cancer.

Eating at least five servings of colourful fruits and vegetables every day is the easiest form of defence against cancer and keeps the body generally healthy.

Eating too much of high-fat foods is thought to contribute to the risk of cancer, because it is most likely to cause obesity. Along with lack of physical activity and overindulgence in alcohol, obesity has a strong link with certain types of cancers, such as colorectal cancer.

Some of my patients have read emails or heard claims that food additives and artificial sweeteners are carcinogenic. These claims can cause a lot of unnecessary fear in people. All ingredients in our food products are regulated by the Health Ministry, and these products would not be approved if they were shown to cause cancer.

If you are wary, you can reduce your intake of artificial sweeteners and processed foods, so that you consume mostly natural ingredients. However, there is no need to be paranoid, as it would take huge amounts of any substance to cause serious harm – and it is rarely possible for a person to consume so much of any product or ingredient.

Born with cancer?

Some of my patients have asked me whether they have “cancer genes”, because many of their close family members, like their mother, sisters, and aunts, have developed cancer.

Some people may be born with a genetic mutation in their cells that makes them “genetically predisposed” to developing cancer. However, it doesn’t mean that they will definitely get cancer, just that they are at higher risk because they already have one of several mutations needed for cancer to develop.

One instance of genetic predisposition is the BRCA1 and BRCA2 breast cancer genes, where women who carry one of these genes may be at higher risk of developing breast cancer than women who do not have the gene. These genes can be identified through genetic testing.

However, all this talk about genetic predisposition can be misleading. Some women think that just because they have the genes, they are doomed to cancer. Other women think that just because they do not have the genes, they will not get cancer, so they do not have to do breast self-examination or go for regular medical checkups.

Let me use BRCA as an example again. Less than 5% of all breast cancer is due to the mutated BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene – which means at least 95% of breast cancer out there is caused by a multitude of other factors, some of which I have described above.

That is the most important take-home message for cancer prevention – there is not one single cause for cancer, but a combination of risk factors and triggers. There are many things that have to happen before cancer can develop – for instance, whether you have the genetic make-up, have been exposed to carcinogens, how you eat and exercise, and the general state of your health, all of which will have to cause several genetic mutations before cancer develops.

The best advice I can give women is to live healthy, think positively, and always be in control by managing your health. By reducing all of the risk factors listed above, you are giving your body a fighting chance to keep cancer at bay.

Japan's economy, the world's third largest, has slid back into recession after the devastation caused by the earthquake and tsunami in March.

Gross domestic product shrank 0.9% in the first three months of the year, the Cabinet office said, giving an annualised rate of contraction of 3.7%.

Analysts say consumption and exports were worst hit.

Japan's economy has now contracted for two quarters in a row, the generally accepted definition of a recession.

Japan sank into a recession during the global financial crisis, but had emerged from it in 2009.

The contraction in the first three months of this year was bigger than expected, with most analysts expecting the annualised rate would show a contraction of about 2%.

"Japan's economy is expected to remain weak for the time being," said Japanese Economics Minister Kaoru Yosano on Thursday.

However, Mr Yosano said that supply constraints were easing and reconstruction demand was likely to spur growth.

"The economy has the strength to bounce back," Mr Yosano said.

Too many men 'unconcerned' about weight health risks

Too many men are failing to recognize the health risks of being overweight, according to Men's Health Forum chief executive Peter Baker.

He says that by not acting to tackle the problem, the NHS is making "a rod for its own back".

Women face a lot of cultural pressure to be slim. This is largely not because of health concerns and can sometimes have quite tragic consequences.

It does mean though, that many women often have a good understanding of the factors that affect their weight.

The majority of men, on the other hand, appear not to be as bothered about their weight as they maybe should be. Neither are health services.

A significantly greater proportion of men are overweight or obese (66% of men compared with 57% of women).

Too many men still die too young - 22% of men in England and Wales die before they reach 64 compared to 13% of women.

Overweight and obesity are a major factor in this excess burden of male death.

Two thirds of men are overweight or obese - the obesity rate alone could rise to 60% by 2050.

Overweight men tend to be "apple-shaped", overweight women "pear-shaped". For complex physiological and biological reasons, this extra fat around the middle causes much greater harm.

Yet many men seem unconcerned about their weight.

Their attitude is that weight is a "women's issue".

This is a cultural thing. Women face a lot more body image pressure than men, although that is starting to affect some young men too.

But generally it appears men are less aware of the connection between excess weight and poorer health.

Being overweight increases the risks of heart disease and stroke - the biggest killers of men.

It is also an important risk factor for several cancers.

Men are 70% more likely than women to die from cancers common to both sexes and 60% more likely to get such a cancer.

For a better life and a better health, not only women but men also need to take in more diet foods.

Japan nuclear agency raises threat level

Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency announced the new level Tuesday morning. It had previously been at 5.

Regulators have determined the amount of radioactive iodine released by the damaged reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant was at least 15 times the volume needed to reach the top of the International Nuclear Event Scale, the agency said. That figure is still about 10 percent of the amount released at Chernobyl, they said.

The amount of radioactive Cesium-137, which has a half-life of 30 years, is about one-seventh the amount released at Chernobyl, according to the agency.

Hackers hunt prey on smartphones, Facebook

Hackers are following prey onto smartphones and social networking hotspots, according to reports released Tuesday by a pair of computer security firms.

Cyber criminals are also ramping up the sophistication and frequency of attacks on business and government networks, one of the companies, Symantec, said in the latest volume of its Internet Security Threat Report.

Symantec depicted a "massive" volume of more than 286 new computer threats on the Internet last year, continued growth in attacks at online social networks and "a notable shift in focus" by hackers to mobile devices.

"The major mobile platforms are finally becoming ubiquitous enough to garner the attention of attackers," Symantec said in its findings.

In March, smartphones running on Google-backed Android software were the target of the largest attack ever on the devices, noted a PandaLabs report focused on the first three months of this year.

"This assault was launched from malicious applications on Android Market, the official app store for the operating system," PandaLabs said.

Within a four-day span, seemingly legitimate Android smartphone applications rigged with malicious "Trojan" computer code were downloaded more than 50,000 times, according to PandaLabs.

"The Trojan steals personal information from cellphones, and downloads and installs other apps without the user's knowledge," the computer security firm said.

"Google managed to rid its store of all malicious apps, and several days later removed them from users' phones."

The Symantec report indicated that cyber crooks were also infiltrating news-feed capabilities at popular social networking services to "mass-distribute" attacks.

Such tactics typically involve getting into one person's account at a social network and then sending others links to websites booby-trapped with malicious computer code.

"Social network platforms continue to grow in popularity and this popularity has, not surprisingly, attracted a large volume of malware," Symantec said.

PandaLabs gave an example of a 23-year-old California man facing sentencing after pleading guilty to using information found on Facebook to hack email accounts to find compromising messages for blackmail.

Even Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg saw his fan page at the social networking website hacked this year, the security firm noted.

PandaLabs researchers logged an average of 73,190 new snippets of malicious computer code daily during the first three months of this year in what was said to be a 26 percent jump from the same period in 2010.

Hackers showed a strong predeliction for a kind of malicious code used to mine bank account data and, ultimately, get into people's accounts, the computer security firm indicated.

China, Thailand and Taiwan had the highest rates of infection, with nearly 70 percent of the computers in those countries "riddled with malware," according to PandaLabs.

Many attacks on company or government computer networks involved hackers researching key employees and then duping them or colleagues into enabling access to protected networks, Symantec's report showed.

Researchers warned that onslaughts by "hacktivists" such as the group "Anonymous" and others with seeming political goals could signal a dangerous cyber arms race.

"Stuxnet and Hydraq, two of the most visible cyber-events of 2010, represented true incidents of cyberwarfare and have fundamentally changed the threat landscape," said Symantec Security Technology and Response senior vice president Stephen Trilling.

"The nature of the threats has expanded from targeting individual bank accounts to targeting the information and physical infrastructure of nation states."

I have been getting better by day with the intake of traditional chinese medicine. Though it is rather troublesome to boil and stay around to keep an eye on the pot - to avoid over-boiled, I think it worth the hard work. The medicine are in pack form which is to be boil twice per pack to drink for 2 days - one small bowl each day. For day 1 - boil 5 bowls into 1 bowl; day 2 - boil 3 bowls into 1 bowl.

My aunt's new home is renovating now, going to move in end of April, they are having Laminate flooring install today. Hubby and I will be going Kuantan again soon!

As we all knew, 8.9 magnitude quake had struck Japan, there must be hundreds or may be thousands of people lost their life. Let's pray for them. I'll get more education books on how to survive in earth quake, in case we meet up any during holiday trips.

FUKUSHIMA, Japan (Reuters) - Japan scrambled on Saturday to contain a crisis at two nuclear plants damaged when a massive earthquake and tsunami struck its northeast coast, probably killing at least 1,300 people.

A day after the biggest quake on record in Japan, the government said it was still too early to grasp the full extent of damage or casualties. The confirmed death toll so far is almost 300, though media reports say it is at least 1,300.

"Unfortunately, we must be prepared for the number to rise greatly," Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano told reporters.

The tremor, with a magnitude of 8.9, was so huge that thousands fled their homes from coastlines around the Pacific Rim, as far away as North and South America, fearful of a tsunami.

Most appeared to have been spared anything more serious than some high waves, unlike Japan's northeast coastline which was hammered by a 10-metre high tsunami that turned houses and ships into floating debris as it surged into cities and villages, sweeping aside everything in its path.

Travellers shun capsule hotel

Capsule hotel now appears in Shanghai! It's a concept from the Japan. However, not much people especially Chinese accept this kind of concept, they should needed the email marketing service to promote it to the public.

THE Xitai Capsule Hotel, modelled after famous capsule hotels in Japan, has not received a single guest since it was launched in January.

Travellers have shunned the hotel, located near the Shanghai Railway Station, where the fire authorities have refused to give it a clean bill of health.

The department found that the 300sq m hotel was made of glass-reinforced plastic and other flammable construction materials, the local media reported.

The average space for each capsule unit, which is measured at 2.4sq m, did not meet the city’s basic requirements for rental units.

The regulations state that each person shall have a minimum living space of 4sq m.

Even if the hotel operator changed the construction materials to inflammable ones, it would still be hard for the building to meet the other requirements such as emergency evacuation, said an official from the Zhabei district fire and rescue department.

It is the first capsule hotel ever built in China.

Opened by a 32-year-old Chinese man, who brought the capsule hotel concept back from Japan where he studied for several years, the hotel consists of 68 capsule units, each measuring 1.1m in height, 1.1m in width and 2.2m in length.

Each capsule only fits a person and is equipped with independent sockets, clocks, lights, television and wireless Internet service.

The building has other shared facilities like a lavatory, shower room and smoking room.

Hotel owner Ta Zhan regretted the whole episode and said that all he wanted to do was to provide an alternative choice of accommodation for budget travellers, who might be stranded at the railway station at night after the end of the metro and public transport services.

He said he had put in a lot of thought into the construction of the hotel and taken into account the local safety guidelines and standards as well as those in Japan.

He hoped that the authorities would review their decision and look into how to help the capsule hotel industry set new building safety guidelines instead of just saying no to operators of such hotels.

“I have not given up the idea of opening the capsule hotel. This is a new thing in China and although I have been denied a licence, I would like to show the value of such hotels in other ways,” he was quoted as saying by Wen Hui Daily.

Despite safety and privacy concerns in the cramped capsule units which do not have doors but curtains, Ta pointed out that the hotel was for male guests only and guests who often snore would stay in a different zone from torpid guests.

The newspaper reported that, apart from fire safety and space requirements that the authorities said were not met, the hotel was equipped with smoke detectors, emergency exit signs and fire extinguishers.

Ta said he had planned to install closed-circuit television and engage two security guards to monitor the hotel compound round-the-clock.

“I am planning to take one million yuan (RM470,000) from my logistics company to maintain the hotel for a year even if it doesn’t get the approval of the fire authorities.

“I am willing to wait for the authorities to do something to make capsule hotels like mine legal. I will invite my best friends and relatives to stay here for free and experience it for themselves,” he said.

According to him, several companies in Hong Kong and Macau had approached him to see whether he would open similar hotels in both places.

Ta had also agreed to allow a Malaysian advertising firm to use the capsule hotel for a commercial shoot.

The room rate of the capsule hotel is about 80 yuan (RM37.60), cheaper than any budget hotel in the city.

The basic rate is 28 yuan (RM13.16) per person, plus an additional 4 yuan (RM1.88) an hour. The maximum rate is 88 yuan (RM41.36) for 24 hours.

Unlike Xitai Capsule Hotel, the capsule apartments built by 78-year-old Huang Rixin in Beijing had a slightly different fate and he has been upgrading his capsules from the first generation to the present fourth generation.

Huang has been interviewed by dozens of journalists since his venture to convert his 50sq m apartment in Haidian district into smaller capsules about the size of a bed and rent them out to fresh graduates and migrant workers created waves last year.

The first and second generation of capsules, which measure less than 4sq m, received an overwhelming response from blue-collared workers, who rented it for 200 yuan (RM92.22) to 450 yuan (RM207.51) a month.

Because the units did not comply with the latest city’s regulations, Huang modified the existing capsules to larger units and came up with his third-generation capsules, which were equipped with a shared kitchen, shower, washing machine and living room.

The new generation capsules had painted walls instead of wallpapers.

Faced with the pressure from the authorities to crack down on collective rental practices in the city’s apartments, Huang has lost many tenants and was thinking of donating his capsules to non-profit organisations or developing the fourth generation capsules together with a developer.

Huang may not succeed in making his business model work but he has become a hero of sorts in China. The grandfather, who draws a pension of 2,000 yuan (RM922.28) and spent hundreds of thousands of yuan on his capsules has popularised this new way of living.

PUTRAJAYA, Wednesday 2 March 2011 (Bernama) -- The government has agreed to extend the 50 per cent discount on traffic summonses until March 10, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.

He said the decision was made after taking into account complaints from motorists, who were not able to settle their dues, to technical glitches and congestion at the counters for the past few days.

There will be no more extension after this and motorists who fail to make use of the opportunity will be blacklisted, he told reporters here today.

A total of 5.5 million summonses were paid during the discount period beginning Aug 12 last year until yesterday, of which 1.5 million summonses were settled in the past week.

Hishammuddin advised traffic offenders not to squander the opportunity to prevent their vehicles from being blacklisted.

He said the extension of the grace period would be closely monitored and those who dispute the validity of the summonses could make appeals by providing evidence to the authorities.

Happy Chap Goh Meh

Chinese New Year is going to end on today - Chap Goh Meh (fifteenth and final day of the Lunar New Year period). Tomorrow will not be a Chinese New Year anymore. We have to wait for another year for the Chinese New Year celebration to happen again.

The traditional mandarin oranges throwing event is a highlight on Chap Goh Meh, whereby those singles throw mandarin oranges with their contact details into the river and hopefully pick up by others. A relationship may start magically with the interaction following that.

I have never attended such event. I am curious about this event. And yet, I have no idea where this event will be held. I know Penang is expecting the annual Chap Goh Meh celebration to be a major tourist attraction. But we got to work! How to travel to Penang for the event? And of course, I don't need to throw mandarin orange (hubby will kill me off if I go ahead to throw one into the river). lol!

May be I shall request the favor from hubby to take a day off to bring me over to Penang to witness such grand celebration. However, it is hard to do so since we already taking many days off during Chinese New Year - my FIL may not like it! So we better don't!

Okay, that's all for now. I'm going to shop for my leather furniture now!

Late sleep for yesterday

As usual, hubby and I will stay awake until late night - 1am, to listen to our favorite radio program. But as usual, I fell asleep during the commercial time. lol! Our previous radio is spoiled due to hubby's carelessness of accidentally pouring a cup of water on top of it, we shall buy a waterproof radio next time!

Anyway, I didn't have a good sleep yesterday night, was having nightmare for the whole night! Tonight I promise myself to sleep early!

CNY-ing

Time goes by really fast, it is now the 8th day of CNY (Chor 8). There is 7 days left before the CNY ends. Oh, how I hope it never ends. Though I had been busy throughout the days, yet I enjoy it. Our relatives are backed and we sat to chit-chat and gamble. It is the most joyful moment of the year!

Our shop has started to re-operate yesterday. Weird huh? Chor 7 should be everybody's birthday, but not a good day to start the business for the year. However, we as a worker have no choice but to follow the boss's order. :(

After continuous busy days prior to CNY, I'm finally back in one piece. I should take my rest to recharge. I think a week is not enough for me to recharge back to full energy, I need at least 2 weeks. I'm having slight flu now, making myself sleepy and heavy head. *Yawn*

Though I can have a good rest after this, I have still many items listed in my to-do list. One of the top item is about our Korea trip in April. I have to do survey on Korea ground tour among the travel agencies. We are quite concerned about the language barrier in Korea, thus joining a ground tour will solve the problem. However, I have called a few travel agencies, with each of them giving me different tour fare, I need more time to make my decision on which to follow.

Since my aunt's new condominium unit has gotten CFO, I'll have to help my aunt on the furniture selection. We have done with the sofa, dining table and beds; TV consoles have yet to get. Other than that, the main entrance door has been selected which is a security door that we saw in my sis in-law's new home. Painting, installations of air-conditioners and lighting will be done within next week. Carpet Installation will be done after house cleaning. Oh, our second new home is going to be ready in a short moment. *Excited*

In the mean time, I'm going to recharge before I take my move to assist my aunt in her new home decorations!

When the sun is needed

When will we need the sun? I am sure you will tell me: it is when we need to dry our clothes. For me, it is untrue. I do not need the sun to dry my clothes. My clothes are hanged indoor under the fan to dry, there is no use of sun light.

When I need the sun light? I do not like the sun, it is devilry hot, making people sweating. However I have waited for the sun light to come out of the clouds for few days.

What for? The prawn crackers are awaiting the sun to heat them up before it is ready to deep-fry in the pot. Without the heat, the prawn crackers would not come up nice and big!

When I needed the sun most, it decides to hide away from me. Chinese New Year to drawing near, the crackers needed to be ready before that to serve my dear relatives.

These few days, the sky remained cloudy, without direct sun light, and randomly rain a little bit. Weird huh? It supposed to be deadly hot during Chinese New Year, but the weather seems to change. Is it the prior notice to the end of the world?

Before the world ends, I'll try out my luck in bingo sites. lol!

Busy preparing for CNY

That's only a week before Chinese New Year finally arrived. Meaning that it's also a week before my birthday arrived!

My birthday falls on the day before first day of CNY. I think we shall have a small small celebration - yum cha, after the annual CNY eve dinner. I'm pretty sure hubby won't have any gift for me. But that's not a big deal, as long as he treated me good and we are happily together.

I'm quite busy these days since the CNY is drawing near, my aunt had many orders. Orders in terms of buying CNY biscuits, foods, this and that...... Kuantan had really nothing, she wants to buy everything in Ipoh, and bring back - almost everything in Kuantan had a higher selling price compared to Ipoh.

Okay, till then - I would have to continue busying!

Fears about paying bills, getting the car serviced and even cooking can result in heart problems, a study has found.

Cleaning, shopping and looking after the household budget can also raise blood pressure, it says.

Worrying about how you will cope, rather than the actual workload, is thought to be the cause of the problems.

However, looking after children or pets is not thought to have adverse effects on blood pressure.

A total of 113 men and women in full-time work took part in the study and gave details of levels of responsibility for running their homes.

Systolic readings – a form of measuring blood pressure – rose by up to 4.4mmHg. The recommended ideal limit is 140mmHg.

‘The perceived responsibility for household tasks, rather than the time spent doing those tasks, is what’s most distressing,’ said the US researchers, whose study is in Psychosomatic Medicine journal.

High blood pressure affects about one in five Britons and the National Health Service estimates that there are 270,000 heart attacks a year in this country.

This is ridiculous! Man shot in head sneezes out bullet?

Mr Sangermano, 28, who is expected to make a full recovery, then said he felt no pain other than a strong headache.

‘This was a very strange case and the first of its kind I am aware of,’ said Prof Sid Berrone, who carried out a ‘tidy-up operation’ on Mr Sangermano before sending him home.

‘He was a very lucky man – he could have been easily killed.’

Mr Sangermano was hit by the stray bullet as revellers fired into the air on New Year’s Eve.

The .22-calibre round entered the right side of his head, passed behind his eye, hit a bone in his nose and finally lodged in his nostril, before being sneezed out in hospital.

The incident happened in Naples, Italy, where two other people were hit and one was killed in similar incidents.

Mr Sangermano’s girlfriend, of Turin, who asked not to be named, said: ‘We were walking when all of a sudden there were some bangs and he said he felt a pain to his head – he was covered in blood.’

Mr Sangermano should have a photo calendars to mark down this part of his life!

Time to prepare money

I was being told that the passed Monday, new notes will be available to exchange. However, that's not true, there are no news notes on Monday and the bankers told me they were not sure when the new notes will be out!

When I bank in a cheque just now, I try to ask again. The banker told me tomorrow will be the day, the day when new notes are out and available. Wow! Excited! But she told me to go bank early tomorrow morning since there are limited new notes for this year.

The banker whom told me about the new notes available tomorrow is from Maybank, but I think all others banks will issue out the new notes on the same day since Bank Negara is the one who decide when the new notes being distributed.

Okay, I will be fast - 9am stand-by in front of the bank with money in hand! Wakakaka.... I will need to exchange new notes for my in-laws, aunt, father and ourselves. That is why I must present at the bank as early as possible, just in case there are really little new notes available for exchange. lol!

Saloon-ing

Gosh, I 'm stuck in the saloon from 10.30am to 12.45pm!!! No, no! I'm not doing any treatment, perming, coloring nor rebonding. All I want to do is to wash and cut my fringe.

Since Chinese New Year is around the corner, saloons tend to increase price around 10 days ahead, that is why the saloon is packed during this time. I waited in front of the shop even before it opens. Yet, I have to wait for long time before my hair is washed and waited longer to have my fringe trimmed.

Fortunately, I bumped into my ex-ladyboss who coincidentally went there to rebond her hair. We chit-chatted about everything happened recently. Thus time won't passed boring. My ex-ladyboss is working for her dad to take care of the developer department. Now that she has stopped working with his dad, she will launching another developer partnered with my ex-colleague. They are building terrace houses in Kampar. And they will have their custom design business cards. It is always a good idea to part out from own parents to do business, not to rely on parents is great for me. I envy them for their courage. I wish them every success.

Service tax increase to 6% from 5%

I was asking about where to get a genuine Astro remote control from the Astro call centre. Only now that I found out that the genuine remote controls are not sold in local Astro centre, we have to get it from a shop name Cynnyx. Selling price is RM30.

While searching for the call centre contact number, I accidentally saw this: Government Service Tax. With effect from 1 January 2011, all pay TV broadcasting services (paid satellite broadcasting services) including Astro will be subjected to a service tax of 6% as announced by the Government in the Budget 2011 in which this service was not subject to service tax previously.

This means my coming Astro bill will be charged an additional 6% as the GST!!! *Faint*While searching for more info regarding the Astro GST, I realized that we will be paying almost everything higher price than yester-years!

According to the Malaysia Budget 2011, service tax rate will be increased from 5% to 6% with effect from 1 Jan 2011. This will impact quite a number of service industry as well as individual consumptions. This may be a temporary measure to increase government revenue while pending the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST). You may probably feel the effect of service tax increase, although some said marginal, in 2011 when you visit to the restaurants, or when you pay your telephone bills.

Oh, gosh! My future telephone bills, broadband bills, food bills is even higher by 1%. You may think it's not many difference, but this may brings the government a lot of extra income!!! I need a beam clamps! #@$%@^

CNY is coming?

When I'm in the bank to hand in the EPF and SOCSO bank in slip with the cheque, I asked when can we change new notes. The banker told me next Monday, new notes will be available.

Came back from the bank, I counted - it's only 2.5 weeks away from Chinese New Year!!! It is so near yet I can't feel the CNY mood? May be it's because I didn't go KL for CNY clothes shopping this year. Shopping malls in Ipoh are decorated with red lanterns and stuff, but it is minor compared to KL's shopping malls.

Gosh, I haven't got myself and hubby any new clothes for CNY. When I was small, I got a lot of new clothes for CNY. Growing up into adult, my new year clothes become lesser. And yet, I insist to have at least a piece of new clothes for the first day of CNY. But finding nice clothes is a hard task for me - with my size. Hopefully I'm lucky to found one for myself and one for hubby.

Hubby and I are thinking to escape to Kuantan on the 4th day of CNY, back to my aunt's house to prepare a Java PDF for my coming plans.

A whole new year

It is already 2011. It is always fast year after year, month after month, day after day! It is a blessing we all went through a year safe and sound. Nothing serious happened for the previous year, though some sadness is inevitable.

In this whole new year of rabbit, I have got some plans and wishes, and I will try my best effort to make it comes true. With many things that we can't control, I will try to over come it uneventfully by all means.

What is your wish for year 2011? I wish, I wish, I wish could have a baby of my own in the year of rabbit. It had move forward to the 2nd half year of marriage, yet I am able to carry a baby to full term. It always choose to leave me before 2 months of pregnancy. We are yet to figure out what is the cause of the miscarriages, nor did the doctors. May be it is not the time yet. Or really our house's feng shui problem??? Any how, we will try our very best to make it a success! Wish us luck!!!

Hubby and I have already planned for holiday trips for this year. We are going to Korea on April and Bangkok on May. Yay! We enjoy traveling a lot!

Lastly, we are finding way to earn more. Our monthly earning currently is not enough for long run, we need more for saving and investing. Hopefully the company checks we will be receiving before Chinese New Year is BIG enough for us to have a Happy Chinese New Year!!!

Singaporeans hit by mobile phone syndrome

Mobile phone is a must to bring wherever we go, without it, I'll feel unsecured!

A MAJORITY of Singaporeans are constantly thinking that their mobile phones are ringing, reported Sin Chew Daily. It said that a random survey of 50 people found that some 80% of them suffered from the mobile phone syndrome. They would check their mobile phones incessantly to see if they were ringing or if there were any missed calls or messages.

A psychiatrist blamed this syndrome on stress.

“Such people should learn to relax to avoid stress taking over their daily life,” said the psychiatrist. The psychiatrist advised sufferers to switch off their mobile phones or avoid answering their phones for a period of time.

Nanyang Siang Pau reported that the National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) has urged the Government to ensure teachers assigned to teach reproductive health and social education next year are well trained.

It quoted NUTP secretary-general Lok Yim Pheng as saying that this was to ensure the teachers were well-equipped.

“Sex education is a sensitive topic and the teacher concerned must send the right message. If the message is misconstrued, parents may sue,” she added.

While the gender of the teacher teaching the subject was not important, Lok said the Government just needed to ensure that there were enough teachers.

Yup, as usual I'll go Jusco on the day before to reserve the goods. Coincidentally, I have book movie ticket on 15th Dec for the Narnia. LOL! After Narnia, I'll start my shopping of reservation!

And I'm going KL on Christmas Day for more shopping! Yay! I want a stay in Hoseasons villas in france hopefully in the coming year! :)

Depression

I'm feeling pretty depressing these days, due to a recurrent issue. It has happened so many times that every time, it breaks my heart into pieces. I don't even know whom to blame for, since all of us had done every best to prevent it.

At last, we went temple asking advice from God! We were told that it all happened because of the environment of our room. Our room had more "yin" than "yang". Yup, true indeed. God knows, even before we told "him", we keep our curtain down 24 hours in the room.

From that onwards, we try to make our room bright by opening all windows and doors. Hopefully things will go smoothly in future! Does it makes better by switching on the tv speakers loudly?

Broken bed legs

A few days ago during night time, when hubby and I were sitting on the bed, two of the legs broken without any prior notice. *Sigh* And something bad happened following the broken bed legs. *Sigh*

Thus our bed frame need to be replaced or removed. Hubby chosen to remove the bed frame instead of replacing it. This morning, hubby has remove the bed frame, left alone the mattress on the floor. It's a Japanese style for our room! It will be better with a 26 inch TV!

Oh, my gosh! What happened? Another burglary? But why so many police cars? Somebody murdered in the burglary?

Yesterday evening, while waiting for the air-conditional being replaced, hubby and I were busy reading about Chinese drywall law suit on my new Garmin-Asus A10. I did not blog about the phone but it is great. I have downloaded a lot of applications and games for free from Android Market. "Angry Bird" is a game to destroy the green monster by throwing birds. LOL! We like it most! Hubby was addicted to it!

Okay, been away from the story.

One of the workers told us that there were many police cars parked outside of our house. Wasting no time, hubby rushed to check it out. Then he hurried me to see the grand view. Wow, there are many of them indeed. We thought that there might be a house being burglarized again initially, but then, there is no need to get over 10 police cars to come for the investigation.

Suddenly, hubby recalled that one of our neighbor is a policeman. And so the police cars are here to attend a party for Hari Raya Haji. LOL!

World's smallest car

Feeling bored waiting while working, I ended up browsing through the Internet for news. And I happened to be attracted to an article - World's smallest car. It's cute!

World's smallest car the 'Wind Up' built by British constructor. British constructor Perry Watkins has assembled officially the world's smallest licensed car - and it has a top speed of 60kph.

At just 41 inches high, 51 inches long and a seemingly impossible 26 inches wide, the miniscule motor is in danger of being overpowered by other vehicles on the road.

But Mr Watkins has made sure that his 'Wind Up' mini car has enough power to compete with the larger cars, with a top speed of 60kph (37mph).

Though it may not be enough to hold its own on the German autobahns, the car features seat belts and has a few flames licking the side of the car, for added 'cool factor'.

The body comes from a repainted children's ride, while the chassis is borrowed from a Shanghai Shenke quad bike. Meanwhile, the tyres are more regularly seen on Monkey motorcycles.

This isn't the first time that Mr Watkins has devised a strange vehicle, after his 'Flatmobile' was unveiled a couple of years ago. It stood at just 19 inches high and could reach speeds of 100mph.

The car will be shown off at a motoring show in Essen, Germany, on November 27.

It's a package with 24 months contract with Digi Smart Plan. My friend bought it last week, and I had try on it, it's fabulous. The full featured Garmin GPS Satellite Navigation comes with junction view which made all of us attract to this phone. I love it because of its GPS, 5MP camera with auto focus, wifi & bluetooth capable. It runs on Android 2.1 which many app could be downloaded for usage. Wow, wow, wow! I love it max!

We will have to sign up for Digi Smart Plan which offer RM68 for unlimited Internet to get this phone. Since the package is a all-in-one with no minimum call usage (just pay-as-you-use), I will switch hubby's number to Digi from Maxis. Since hubby doesn't call out often, it suites him.

Now that I have done porting the number out from Maxis to Digi, I will still have to wait for the phone to be restock. It is out of stock currently. I just received call from Digi Centre Ipoh that the phone will probably arrived by Saturday.

Emotional ups and downs

Living our life as a human being is challenging. We are always prepared for all kinds of emotional ups and downs - an inevitable fact of life. Anyhow, we are going to face them and go through them in our daily life without fail.

My friend told me that I'm pessimistic, though I do not agree with that. I'm quite optimistic in fact, just because I have been through a lot of emotional downs during the younger part of my life, I knew that I should keep my head up to face every challenges.

When I was 3 years old, my mom had diagnosis with breast cancer. Ever since that, I am growing up in an environment that fearing my mom's sickness may relapse any time. Every year, my mom will go for a check-up and that was the time when we were worried, fear of getting a bad report. Year after year the check-up went out great, until they (cancerous cells) finally decided to come back for a visit. I was 12 years old by that time. The sickness dragged for another 4 years. My mom had done a great job in the battling, now she is at peace in God's hand.

I was my mom's only child, so the task of taking care her falls on me naturally. I still remember the time when I used to accompany my mom to hospital for surgery or chemotherapy, I used to sit by her bed and sleep by her bed.

I've had to learn independent since my mom passed on. I've grown up wiser than others after all the ups and downs in my life. My friends of my ages are still in their parents' loving nest when I already staying independently on my own.

I'm so lucky that I've met hubby, he had been taking care of me since I'm 16 years old. We have been through a lot indeed. Thank God, I have him. We go everywhere in pair. We been through everything together! I'm so blessed!

After a whole week of "work"

Hubby and I had sent my aunt and cousin home safely yesterday. This ends my week of "work". "Work" in terms of being a driver driving them around the town, clean up my house and clear up the things I brought home in big black plastic bags with my aunt. Gosh, this kind of "work" is way more tiring than my normal "work". Anyway, we were all delighted to have my house back to a clean and tidy state.

During this week, we have had my house wiring and plumbing work done. Washing machine and refrigerator are bought too! But both of them are now being located upstairs. The ground floor of my house is empty - in case the thieves look into our house, they won't know we have replaced all the electrical gadgets, though my house had been armed with alarm system.

During this week, our car had encounter a big problem - engine oil leaking. Our braking system is also giving out sound when we press on it. Oh, we were all worried about it. Thus the car was sent to Toyota service center for check-up. The technician told us that they need to take out the whole engine to change something from inside to cure the oil leaking and our disc-brake had became one thick one thin due to the fact that we had changed the brake pad with a non-original one. All in all, the repair fee will come up to RM1,500. *sigh*. We took our car back, wait for hubby's act. Fast forward, hubby then bring our car to a private technician whom had successfully fix the oil leaking with RM300. And the braking system, we still need to go back to Toyota, for a original brake pad!

During this week, our auto-reload touch n go z'ng card refuse to auto-reload, both my aunt's and mine. We headed to the Jelapang tol plaza which then only realized that it had been closed and then redirect to the Ipoh Garden tol plaza to activate the cards.

During this week, we were all busy - 24 hours per day technically not enough! LOL!

Re-route back to Kuantan

A week before, hubby and I went Kuantan to fetch my aunt and cousin back to Ipoh for holiday, and now we are all backed to Kuantan! It was a tiring week, I'll have to rest for at least a week for recovery. LOL! I wish I could sleep in a baby bouncer chairs!

Something to laugh about

During the visit to Genting Highland last Sunday, hubby and I had do something silly that may lead us embarrassing ourselves from being scolded by people.

It happened that hubby and I were exhausted after exploring the whole Genting by foot (of course by feet, can't be possible by car or by bus). We slept by 1am the previous night and woke up 5.30am preparing ourselves for Genting. That's why we are so tired!

Okay, back to the story track. We walked into the lift, no one else was in the lift with us, just two of us. Hubby pressed 22nd floor. Our room is 22902. When the door of the lift opened up, we go straight out, walked all the way while chit chatting to room 902.

One arrived at room 902, hubby pressed the door bell (to notify the "people" in the room that we were backed), around 5 times the bell rings. LOL! Then hubby slot in the room key card, first time it showed red light, second time again red light.

I was wondering why the door can't open. While we still in the mist of thinking, I look up the room tag on the door. And it showed 15902!!! Gosh, we were so shock and damn scared that the door may open from inside. We run away as fast as we can to the lift! What if that's somebody inside the room sleeping? We had pressed the door bell non-stop for many times!!!

Lesson of the day: Do look at the floor indicator before you walk out of the lift.

Moving back to old house

Due to a burglary, my house has been cleared - virtually nothing left! I felt that the whole world had gone black, hope drained from me. Thus I decided to leave the house, either rent it out or sell it off. The house is mainly left unoccupied except the time when my aunt and family come back Ipoh for holiday.

My relationship with my aunt and family are very close, as if they were my own family. So I had always troubled myself, thinking of where they will stay when they are back.

Hubby and I had thought of buying a new house, but the property price has been rising tremendously throughout the years. Not that we couldn't afford, but if we really bought a new property, we would have to travel less, and use less, everything becomes tighten, we are not allow to spend freely. My aunt also doesn't agree to the idea of buying a new house.

Thus, all of us come to a conclusion to move back to the old house. We will have to build a concrete wall without door at the back yard where the fencing had been stolen; add more grills around the house; set up an alarm system; have an electrician to fix all the wiring that have been cut off by the devil thieves; and lastly replace the air-conditioner/ Astro decoder/ washing machine/ water heater/ refrigerator/ Furniture.

I will be busy going to and fro my house! Everything will be find after the alarm installation, I supposed!!!

Day after Malaysia Day

It is a Friday! And from the time I awake, I thought it is Monday today! LOL! Tomorrow will be Saturday and soon will be Sunday - another holiday!

Hubby stayed at home all day yesterday, cooking, washing, cleaning, watching TV, as if it was a Sunday! We do not need any stereo systems at home but still we enjoy ourselves.

KL stay

I'm backed from a 3 days 2 nights Kuala Lumpur trip. My aunt and family came down from Kuantan; hubby and I went KL from Ipoh.

We stayed in One World Hotel which is nested within One Utama Shopping Centre. I've booked our room through an online travel agent with a great deal, instead of RM1,200+ for superior room only from the hotel's website, I have it at RM1,088 for deluxe room and breakfast (2 rooms 2 nights).

Upon arrived in KL around 9am, we checked in but the hotel system had been down. So we went back around 12pm, queuing up to check in again. We were lucky to have our room upgraded to executive deluxe room since deluxe rooms were not ready yet. :)

It isn't the first time we stay in this hotel, but we always feel happy to check in to One World Hotel. However, some unhappiness happened after the check in.

We were rushing time going to meet my uncle's friend. The bellboy whom helped us arranging our luggage in the trolley was busy attending to another customer, so we helped ourselves pushing the trolley to our room. Half way unloading the luggage, the bellboy came. But he wasn't helping, he just stood and see us unload our things. Once finished, the bellboy showed us "black face", teared off our room tag on the trolley with force and pushed the trolley out of the room. (May be he thought that we were suppose to pay him tips but we didn't. Hey, he never even offered help unloading the luggage, why are we paying him?)

On the other hand, while waiting for check in, hubby parked our car beside the lobby waiting for us. Once he got down from the car, the jockey told him they'll charged us RM5 for parking there for 15 minutes. Because our car not a Merz? BMW? Porche? or Ferrari???

Other than that, we enjoyed our stay there, everything were great!

Eve of holidays

Tomorrow will be Hari Raya. Our shop will still open tomorrow, then closed on Saturday. But hubby and I will go KL, enjoy our holidays!

We are going to stay in KL for 2 nights. Yay! We will have enough time to go Ikea, The Curve, One Utama, Mid Valley, Low Yat, Sungai Wang, Lot 10 and Petaling Street. I want to visit book fest at KLCC too.

Half an hour of Piranha

Hubby told me he wanted to watch the Piranha days before. I have made an online booking with TGV. RM10 per seat and an additional online booking fee made up to a total of RM21.00 for the movie on Tuesday. It is a nice seating place at the last row since I have made the booking early.

We arrived at Jusco on time for the movie. While seated, people walking pass our back (we were on the last row). I heard some of them discussing why the theater was warm. I didn't bother much until half an hour after the movie started. I felt stuffy and even sweating. I also smelt the bad smell of shoes!

I could not tolerate with the warm, stuffy and smelly environment. I walk out to ask. And only when I asked that I realized that the staffs are already aware of that! They told me the cinema's air-cond compressor had broken down few weeks ago!

Gosh, they are selling tickets with normal price without informing customer about the fact that there is NO air-cond throughout the whole cinema!!! Imagine how you feel when your car and home air-cond compressor broken down, when only hot air coming out from the air-cond!

Being told that the air-cond compressor is malfunctioning, I rolled my eyes big and look at them. Following that, they told me I can have my tickets refund. Well, at least they refund. I went back into the theater, discuss with hubby. At last, we decided to get the refund. Hey, we do not need to pay to suffer!!!

We asked for refund at the ticket counter, the staff needed to ask for permission to do so from their supervisor and came back refunded me RM20. I request to see the supervisor since it was not fully refund - RM21. It is just RM1 difference but I bothered by the fact that the cinema still selling tickets even though the air-cond was not functioning!!! When the supervisor came, he pay me back the difference immediately. Clever him, or else I will be writing my complain letter to the TGV headquarter now!

I think they need to change their seats to a more fashionable western furniture style since they are now starting to get smelly!

I have a netbook!

I just took my netbook back after having lunch with my friends! *Happy* But we waited at the computer shop for half an hour before I can take hold of the netbook. :(

At the moment, I can't on the netbook to browse through, it needs to charge for 8 hours before using. I can't charge it now in the shop, have to wait till we got home! I could only admire the netbook externally! LOL!

Sweet n sour prawn in bread

We used to hear curry chicken bread, now I want to introduce the sweet n sour prawn in bread. We bought it from the restaurant near our house for supper. Yup, just hubby and me, finished the whole bread and prawns.

The sweet n sour prawn in bread costs RM42 with 10 big prawns (yes, we count!). Yummy!!!

Matta Fair, Ipoh

Matta Fair in Ipoh starts today. Weeks before this, I saw the advertisement on the Genting website regarding the room redemption offer. It supposed to open by 10am.

Thus, I go there on 9.40am, thinking that I shall be early and could have been first few in the queue for room redemption. But I was wrong! Totally wrong!!! It's already in a long queue when I reached there.

I queued for an hour for the room redemption. It worth the wait since I only need to use 3GP to redeem 2 nights stay in First World's deluxe room during low season! I separate the stay , one in October and one in November, which means I'm going to Genting Highland once in each month for the coming two months!

Steamboat birthday bash

1st Sept is my best friend's - Terrence birthday! Yes, he is a guy. my best friend is a guy! Sometime, guys are better than girls when it comes to the time you need help or advice. What do you think?

We have a steamboat birthday bash held. We have not been to this restaurant, it is recommended by a friend. Hubby and I went on time while others were yet to arrived! Despite wasting time, I took out my camera, starting to snap everywhere. LOL!

It is actually a steamboat and bbq restaurant where we could bbq hot dogs, hams, satay, etc. If you need to eat something while waiting for the steamboat and bbq, there are fried rice, nuggets, watermelon and red bean soup. The variety of food for steamboat were plenty too!

I would highly recommend this restaurant for buffet steamboat. We only paid RM19.90 per person since it is on weekdays and the food served are fresh, especially the prawns. We had 4 big plates of prawns - the boss must have taken down our face, black-listed us! We almost finished al the prawns in the shop with the efficiency of the birthday boy peeling off all the shell of the prawns. LOL!

All of us were so full that we hardly left any place for birthday cake! I wonder I would need to use the dental business cards that my friend gave me on the day before!

Merdeka @ Genting Highland

Hubby and I, FIL and MIL went up to the hill on Merdeka day! Hubby and I stayed in Genting Highland for half day only. Why? Too boring! We lost RM50 straightly within 5 games! No luck! Thus, hubby and I went down to KL, go for Low Yat Plaza for some computer accessories. We went up to Genting again around 7pm to fetch my in-laws to Gohtong Jaya for dinner before heading home.

Before going down to KL, we had our lunch in a almost hidden restaurant which is located in Genting Casino. My in-laws brought us there. This restaurant named New Orleans. We were fortunate to have reached there in time to avoid the long queue, half an hourly later, the queue gets quite long already! LOL!

In the New Orleans, one only need to order a main course to be able to enjoy buffet salad, soup and drinks!

Home pc broken down, a netbook needed!

It has been over 2 months that our home desktop broken down. Hubby tried to ask for help from his friend but he is too busy to entertain us.

After waiting for 2 months, we brought the cpu to a computer shop. What was told is that the motherboard died, and the ram is needed to change to a newer version if we change the motherboard. The technician give us an estimation of RM300 to fix it.

RM300 isn't too much, but we still prefer to get a netbook instead of repairing the old desktop. Since we love to travel, a mini netbook suits us best. Hubby likes to lie on the bed surfing the net too!

PC fair in Ipoh just started, hubby and I went there yesterday and bought our mini netbook! We bought a Toshiba NB305 in white color. White color's Toshiba is out of stock, and it will arrived next week, which means we will be surfing the Internet with our white netbook next week! Yay!

Sweat non-stop

What a hot day? I doubted why the weather goes such extreme, it is very hot now, but may start raining cats and dogs later on. The world's coming to the end soon, huh?

I'm sitting in my tiny little office where I usually keep the hot air away by switching on a small stand fan. Today, I'm sweating like a pig. My sweats are streaming down my forehead even when I'm sitting still!

Now, I have switched on the air con along with my stand fan. Feeling good! LOL!

Monday blue?

I've made a plan to wake up every morning to exercise on my bike to get rid of the fats. I'm growing way too fat and work-out is needed to reduce the fats that built on my body.

So today is the first day, I hope I can keep this up for at least 3 months. For me, cycling guarantee weight lost. I lost quite a lot before my wedding by cycling.

After the 30 minutes cycling session, I bath and follow hubby to work. But I'm feeling tired all day long, my head is filled with clouds, making me feeling dizzy. *Sigh*. I'm soon getting tired of myself. May be it's the side effect of taking Clomid, but I won't allow myself to go home to rest so often, so I'm sitting in my office, trying to keep myself alert until it's time for home! *Yawn*

A simple dinner

Our eating out for yesterday night was at a corner shop near Taman Bombak. Most of the time we went there, we saw it crowded with many people waiting for tables. During weekend, you will be sitting for an hour to wait for your dishes.

It has been long since my FIL wanted to go there for a try, since every time we went there was on weekend, and the crowd of people used to scare us away. LOL!

Finally, we could have a try there. I forgot the English or Malay name for the shop, in chinese, it's called 兵头. We didn't wait for long for the dishes, may be due to the fact that it's not on weekends.

We ordered 4 dishes and 1 soup. Stir fried vege is the best of all. Others are only "so so"!

Joy of celebrating

My FIL and MIL both hit a third prize in Magnum! Hurray! Their car plate no had run up to the third place! Both of my in-laws were on cloud nine! Although they didn't won much money but still everybody around are asking for a treat of meal, and they joyfully treated them since everybody are happy over it!

Tonight four of us are going out for dinner and tomorrow night, we are going to eat out too. My FIL and MIL are going to treat two tables to celebrate!

Hubby and I didn't have luck in lottery so we seldom buy numbers. Winning in a lottery will be something extremely amazing for us. The only time we won was during my wedding, while I wondering whether to take a nicer gown with an additional RM300. We won RM200 by buying RM1 big, RM1 small, for our file number in the wedding shop. The RM200 was then going in to upgrade my wedding gown!!! Hubby was grumpy since I didn't tell him about buying this number and why I buy that little!!!

1 or 2 months to refund???

On the beginning of the month, our famous low cost carrier - AirAsia had launch flights to Korea.

Hubby and I was longing to go Korea for a visit, so we sit still in front of the notebook, waiting for the clock to strike 12am, to begin our booking. Well, I expect the system to get jammed up as usual, but surprisingly, it wasn't. I go smoothly through until payment. Keyed in everything, waited a while before the page showed reservation status: Pending. Since reservation status is pending, I'll have to wait till the next morning to contact AirAsia regarding the status.

Cut the story short, a final reply from AirAsia confirmed booking was unsuccessful, and we left it since there won't be any cheap ticket available after 2 days.

A few days ago, hubby received his credit card statement. The air ticket that cost RM1,470.00 which we unsuccessfully booked, had been charged to hubby's credit card!!! After a hard time calling to the center which is charging RM1.95/min, I was told that we were to fax over the statement, or emailed it and wait for refund for ONE OR TWO MONTHS!!!

What kind of policy they are having??? They charged us wrongly and we were to pay the bill and wait for one or two months for refund??? I request to speak to their supervisor for an explanation, and was told that their supervisor was meeting. The officer took my hp number, promised to get someone to call back within one or two hours, but I've never received any calls for the passed 24 hours!!!

AirAsia is nevertheless the cheapest airfare provider, but their customer service is really bad!!!

Heavy rain

Heavy rain on a Saturday. It's feeling good right now since we are having a heavy downpour in Ipoh. We had it too yesterday. With more rain, the surrounding air seems becoming more friendly.

First day of Puasa

To me, Puasa (fasting) is the month leading to Hari Raya Puasa. We could buy delicious Malay food in the evening!

Just in case you are not aware of the meaning of fasting before Hari Raya Puasa, what is Ramadan? I've found some detailed explanation for you:

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is the Islamic month of fasting, in which participating Muslims refrain from eating, drinking and sexual activities from dawn until sunset. Fasting is intended to teach Muslims about patience, humility and spirituality and is a time for Muslims to fast for the sake of God and to offer more prayer than usual. During Ramadan, Muslims ask forgiveness for past sins, pray for guidance and help in refraining from everyday evils, and try to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds. As compared to the solar calendar, the dates of Ramadan vary, moving backwards about ten days each year depending on the moon. Muslims believe Ramadan to be the month in which the first verses of the Qur'an were revealed to the Islamic Prophet Muhammad.

The most prominent event of this month is fasting. Every day during the month of Ramadan, Muslims around the world get up before dawn to eat Sahur or Sehri or Sahari (meaning "something we eat at Sahar"), then they perform the fajr (or Sobh) prayer. They have to stop eating and drinking before the call for prayer starts until the fourth prayer of the day, Maghrib. Muslims break their fast at Maghrib (at sunset) prayer time with a meal called Iftar. Muslims may continue to eat and drink after the sun has set until the next morning's fajr prayer call. Then the process starts again.

Ramadan is a time of reflecting , believing and worshiping God. Muslims are expected to put more effort into following the teachings of Islam and to avoid obscene and irreligious sights and sounds. Sexual activities during fasting hours are also forbidden. Purity of both thoughts and actions is important. The fast is intended to be an exacting act of deep personal worship in which Muslims seek a raised awareness of closeness to God.

The act of fasting is said to redirect the heart away from worldly activities, its purpose being to cleanse the inner soul and free it from harm. It also allows Muslims to practice self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and empathy for those who are less fortunate; thus encouraging actions of generosity and charity (Zakat).

Muslims should start observing the fasting ritual upon reaching the age of puberty, so long as they are healthy, sane and have no disabilities or illnesses. The elderly, the chronically ill, and the mentally ill are exempt from fasting, although the first two groups must endeavor to feed the poor in place of their missed fasting. People who are travelling long distances do not have to fast. Also exempt are pregnant women, women during the period of their menstruation, and women nursing their newborns. A difference of opinion exists among Islamic scholars as to whether this last group must make up the days they miss at a later date, or feed poor people as a recompense for days missed. While fasting is not considered compulsory in childhood, many children endeavour to complete as many fasts as possible as practice for later life. Lastly, those traveling (musaafir) are exempt, but must make up the days they miss. More specifically, Twelver Shī‘ah define those who travel more than 40 mi (64 km) in a day as exempt.

The elderly or those who suffer from a disability or disease and have no prospect of getting better in the future can pay the cost of Iftar for a person who cannot afford it, or else they can host such a person in their house and have him eat with them after sunset as a way of repaying for the days they could not fast.

A person who is observing Ramadan might break the fast accidentally, due to having forgotten it. In such an instance, one might spit out the food being eaten or cease the forbidden activity, immediately upon remembering the fast. This can usually happen in the early days of Ramadan because that person might have not yet been acclimated into fasting from dawn till dusk.

When Ramadan came to overshadow Ashura in importance, it took on some characteristics of the latter. According to a well-known hadith, the person who observes Ramadan properly will have all their past sins forgiven. According to another, "When Ramadan arrives, Heaven's gates are opened, Hell's gates are closed, Satan is chained up and jinns are also locked up" and thrown into the oceans.

There are exceptions in certain Muslim communities that deny practising fasting in Ramadan such as Alevi people in Turkey.

Hubby and I went Oldtown to an old reataurant named Hoong Tou for our dinner yesterday night, while my FIL and MIL were not backed from Genting Highland.

Oh, Genting Highland! It has been a long time since I been there - I think more then 10 months! I miss the cold air in Genting Highland. I must make a trip there in the coming months.

Well, this old fashion restaurant still attracts many people and they serve good food. But then, it is a bit more pricey compared to others. The food was served within few mins - real fast!

And yesterday night, while my FIL went Penang with his bro to fetch relatives from China back to Ipoh, we went there for dinner for the location is great - very nearby! And not to deny, the food is delicious! Six dishes for RM100+, the price is reasonable too!

See the amount of medicine I'm taking??? I have been sick since few weeks ago with cough and flu, but it's already recovered. However, they decided to come back for a visit on the beginning of this week. So I'm again down with cough and flu.

I have been coughing my lung out, until one of the nerve on my right lower abdomen is hurt. Now I'm suffering, I can't even cough no matter how itchy my throat is. If I accidentally cough, I'll feel like the nerve at the lower abdomen will burst!

It's the Berlin's Bier Houz! It's in the Greentown Business Centre. My friend brought me there for lunch last week.

Once I got there, the first impression to me is "expensive", I'm pretty sure our lunch will be expensive. But I was wrong, they offered set lunch at rm15 only. It consist of a drink, a self-service salad and a main dish.

Go and try if you haven't, it's a nice place to sit in for meal.

After the burglary to my house, everything seem going the wrong way. I don't feel okay to do anything since my heart has badly hurt. Thank God, I have a caring hubby, caring friends and my dear blogger friends. Thank you very much!

Hubby had brought me out for a break as he knows I'm too stressful seeing my own house being turned upside down by the god-damn thieves. They made my house into an machine-free house, almost all the electrical things in my house were gone.

Life has to go on anyway, after the break, we need to get back to work, back to our life! And I'm glad that I've 80% recovered! Left-alone the 20% to self-recover as time goes on.

OMG burglary happened to my house!

I don't know why burglary happened frequently in Ipoh. Our neighbor shop had been attempted to break in; the house opposite ours had been broken in and lost a few LV bags. These burglary didn't even caught our attention about my own house's safety.

I didn't anymore stay in my own house since years ago after I moved into hubby's house, the house had left alone and being stayed in during the time when my relatives come back for holiday, may be four times in a year.

We were in Bercham when we were told that my house had burglary and my house is in Pengkalan, we rushed to Pengkalan immediately. By the time we reach home, there were already two policeman waiting for us at the house's backyard. I can see from the back window that my fridge is still there, I stupidly feeling relieve, doesn't know that the fridge's compressor already taken away.

As you can see, my house is God damn messy!!! My heart broken into thousand pieces when I see the scene. This is the house I stay since I was born, the main reason why I don't want to sell it off is the memory behind it, but now I had no choice but to sell it.

My total lost is around RM11k, including 2 units air-con, 2 units stand fan, 1 unit TV, 1 unit Astro decoder, 1 set hifi, 1 unit water heater, 1 unit washing machine, 1 unit fridge compressor, 1 unit aluminum staircase, 1 unit basin, 1 box of RM500 coins, 1 set stainless steel cookware & etc. The only valuable thing left is my piano - too heavy to move!

Hubby and I went Pasir Puteh Police Station to make a report and directed to go to the head quarter to talk to a Sarjan. We went home and waiting for them to call. Around 10.30pm, we were called and backed to my house, four policeman came taking picture in my house and searched for finger-prints. They found three finger-prints, and are going to send the finger-prints to Bukit Aman Police Station for further investigation. However, nothing can be done to my house even though they catch the theft, my lost had already done.

I cannot sleep for the whole night thinking about the burglary. What to do but to accept the fact that damage already done, and we have to admit that it's our fault to ignore the house's safety.

Shrek Forever After

Hubby and I went cinema to watch Shrek Forever After yesterday night. After such a long time never go TGV Jusco Ipoh, it had turned cleaner. At least no smell at the walk-way going out after the movie.

If you are yet to watch the movie, I tell you, it is a must to watch! This cartoon is really funny, we almost laugh from start to end. No bluffing!

It was on last Sunday, when both my in-laws and our cousin's parents were enjoying their holiday in Vietnam, hubby and I, cousin sis and his hubby, with cousin sis's in-laws and bro-in-law, went Lawan Kuda for dinner.

Hubby and I just found out that this restaurant was relocated further into the village. Last time we used to have our dinner at this restaurant, until it closed to move to other place. We were happy to be able to enjoy our dinner here again!

As we decided to start the business that we thought is potential, hubby asked some advices from an experienced business man (our neighbor shop's uncle). According to him, the area where we spotted to start the business is "quiet", not recommended, and it'll be better to have it at the side of a main road.

However, hubby and I still thought that our destinated area had the potential. So we will put it on hold for one or two months. After the opening shop of our cousin at the area, we would know whether it has the crowd.

Thus, business plan will be on hold for a few months just to be secured!

Something bothering me recently. Hubby found me a business opportunity. Everybody says it's a potential business, everybody supports us in manner of mentally. I myself thought I should start-up our own business, sitting myself in hubby's shop everyday makes my everyday life dull and boring. I wish I could earn my own money, have my own business.

However when we found a suitable business to start-up, I'm kind of scared. The start-up model is an issue, we have to find our way to obtain the start-up model without yelling for help from my in-laws. I'm scared we don't have enough $$ to hold for the time when we are newly opened, yet to be known to others. I'm scared I'll lose!

Well, people always says one should try when one is still young. I knew that very well, but still it's my first time to try, not knowing the outcome, I'll be risking to lose all my money and effort!

Anyway, I bet I'll give it a try anyhow. May be I'll become a successful business women? Wish me luck!

On one of the past Sunday, hubby and I woke up late. We didn't want to fight with the crowd so we went to the Royal China Restaurant. This is a restaurant under Tai Thong, but with a different name only. The restaurant is very grand and elegant, thus the food there is a bit pricey! To me, it worth the price for the dim sum is delicious.

Take note that this restaurant isn't same with others, it opens by 11am on weekdays, 9am on weekends. Don't go there too early!!!

Jusco Ipoh Member Day

Just received Jusco's letter yesterday, Jusco Ipoh Member Day for this year will be held on 13th May 2010, Thursday.

For those who are really keen to get cheapies from Jusco, do visit Jusco on the night day before. Hubby and I used to go there the day before, reserved our things and go back just to pay for them on the actual day. This will save us lots of time waiting in the queue to try out the pants or dresses!!!

Remember, go Jusco on 12th May 2010 night time to reserve the things you want, just ask the sales person to reserve for you!!!

I love Hong Kong

5 days 4 nights of Hong Kong trip has come to an end. On the day we arrived in Hong Kong, it was cool; while we leave Hong Kong it was getting warmer. I love Hong Kong. Everywhere is labeled with chinese words, everyone is speaking cantonese and they are very polite (except for those sellers in Lady Street).

Hong Kong's MTR is really very well built, I must give them a thumb up. Any one of the MTR stop would simply have more than 5 exits to different streets, and most of the MTR stops are underground, which means on top of the stops are streets and shops!

Every streets in Hong Kong are busy with people walking in fast pace. Some of the escalators in MTR stops are moving fast (much faster than our pace), and we were to stand on one side as some people may use the other side to walk faster up or down the escalator.

Free and easy trip to Hong Kong is no fuss at all with all the signs and map in hand!

Off to Hong Kong

Tomorrow, my FIL, MIL, hubby and me will be off to Hong Kong!

All of us are to wake up very early in the morning to catch Yoyo bus by 7.30am to LCCT (not KLIA cause we are flying Air Asia, not MAS). We will be reaching the airport 2 hours earlier. By then only we will have our proper brunch.

My FIL was buzzing all the morning, he seems to be very very excited about this trip!

We'll be back on Tuesday night, hopefully I'm energetic to put up a post on Hong Kong.

What do you think about Dewan Bandaraya worker whom giving out summon to your car? They'll appear from nowhere issuing you a summon when your parking coupon is overtime or when your car is parking somewhere you are not suppose to. Usually if you arrived in time (seconds before he prints out the summon), he'll let you go.

However, when it comes to business owners like us that need to park our customer's car in front of our shop, trouble comes (constantly!!!). Sometimes, we will put parking coupon; sometimes, we will open-up the car's bonnet or boot. Sometimes when those MBI man comes, my FIL will treat them "minum kopi". Mind you that there is not only one pax for one area, they are many of them! Today this comes, tomorrow another comes......

It happened yesterday that we did not put parking coupon and forgot to open the car's bonnet or boot. And "he" passed by, come down to our shop talk this say that. "He" came before and "minum kopi" not long ago, and yet "he" comes again. So my FIL asked him to issue summon if "he" wants. "He" didn't do so, but standing in front of our shop, using his hp taking photo of our shop.

Today, comes another "he" claiming that "he" gets complaint that we are doing business in the parking lot, "he" is coming to summon our shop. Hubby talked with "him", revealed that it's the "he" who came yesterday without getting what "he" wants report our shop with photo! *@&$%

We never received such a summon in the past 30+ years!!! My FIL had been doing business in this shop for 30+ years!!! No warning given before summon!!! Have you heard cannot even take or replace car seats in a parking lot??? Even if we put parking coupon also cannot??? @#&%$

Another cheating call

This morning, while I'm quite free, I received a call from a believed-to-be China cheating female whom speaks China style Mandarin (with China slang). So I decided to hear what she's going to cheat about.

China girl: Hello, Miss. May I have a few minutes doing some survey with you?
Me: Okay.
China girl: Are you currently using any Panasonic products?
Me: No.
China girl: Actually, Panasonic is planning to open 2 shops in Ipoh, and we would like to invite you to our shop.
Me: I'm not free.
China girl: No, not now. It will be later.
Me: I'm not free also.
China girl: *Getting frustrated* Why you only know how to say "I'm not free"?
Me: Ya, I only know how to say "I'm not free".
China girl: Are you rushing to DIE???
Me: Ya, I'm really not free, in a rush to DIE!!!
*Hang up* Do..do..do.......

I've finally getting into their nerves. LOL.

Think carefully, we'll realize. Panasonic will not sent somebody speaking China Mandarin to do survey. They already well-known, there isn't a need to promote like that. These China females tactics already widely-known, I wonder why they still doing so? Do they think we, Malaysian, are still that innocent, easily to be cheated???

A sunny Saturday morning

It's again Saturday. This Saturday morning appears to be sunny, the sun is showing its shinny face. However I'm not showing my shinny face, I'm gloomy!

I have had a terrible sleep yesterday night. I woke up by 2.30am to the toilet, then back to bed, twisting and turning all the way till this morning. I'm now extremely tired and sleepy plus light headed.

Oh my, my sis in-law and his hubby are going to Macau tonight and they are going to sent their kid, Marcus to our house until they come back from Macau. We need quite a lot of energy to help taking care of Marcus, although he always behave well but he's still a child, we need to talk a lot with him. I must take a nap later, recharge before Marcus arrive! LOL

In additional of Marcus's arrival, hubby and I have a postpone-meet-up with hubby's cousin tonight. It should be late when we finally reach home. I wonder if I could stand the sleepiness tonight!

Our nephew, Marcus, went out with us yesterday night to Ipoh Parade and Jusco.

While walking near the food dept. in Jusco, we saw a child wearing an owl's mask. Marcus shouting "Aiye!!!" at the kid, and the kid's mother pointed out her finger telling us where she got the mask. So we go there straight away to get a free owl mask and king's crown from the children milk powder promoter.

Since then Marcus was wearing his new masks until we reach home.

4 pax in a HK hotel's superior room?

I have been searching throughout the Internet and going to Matta Fair for more information on Hong Kong. Yes, another DIY tour!!!

My in-laws, hubby and I are going on a free-n-easy tour on our own to Hong Kong since I manage to get cheap air ticket of RM360 per pax including seat allocation and 15kg luggage checked-in.

We are going to share our room in Hong Kong. I have book a room with 2 double bed in Mongkok, Hong Kong. I'm not worry about the bed size since I've check it out on Tripadvisor, the beds are larger than most Hong Kong hotel's single bed.

What I worry most is the fact that all the hotels only accommodate 2 person in a room, will only allow 1 more child to be in for most case. However 4 of us are going to stay in a room! I doubt the management will kept quite about it. Hubby and I planned to check-in with just 2 of us, follow by my in-laws sneaking in later.

What do you think? Have you stayed in Royal Plaza Hotel, Hong Kong? What would you say about it?

After a sumptuous lunch, my aunt, cousin, hubby and I went to Mid Valley walk walk while my uncle went for tea with his friends.

Mid Valley is full of cars on that Sunday afternoon, we queued up for half an hour before getting a car park. And we found "Alice" everywhere within Mid Valley. As we walked on, we saw many artificial mushrooms, flowers with faces, leaves and trees in the center court. It was crowded with many people like me snapping photos!

I think I'll go cinema for this movie, will you?

Straight A's celebration in KL

As a celebration for my cousin's straight A's in SPM, all of us went to KL for a great lunch. We went to Unique Seafood Restaurant for our lunch celebration with a few of my uncle's friend.

Everybody is praising my cousin for his result, he was at cloud nine the whole day. Actually his result is expected to be straight A's for all of us, if he failed to get all A's, that would be most alarming (too demanding hor?).

My cousin got a T-shirt for one of the uncles but the size isn't fit for him (huge huge body he has). And hubby and I got him a puzzle cube (he loves cubes) for gift.

I got know about the Baskin Robbin's Pink Day last week. Yesterday night, after we took our dinner, we go straight to Jusco for a ice-cream treat! With my pink shoulder bag and pink hp bag, we are able to get 2 cups of double jr. scoop for RM15++!!!
