Donate some money?

I'm not sure whether this is a economic down-turn effect, but within these few weeks. Our shop often had quite a lot strangers coming in, what I mean is those coming in with no good intention!

Some of them claimed "no money for lunch", others claimed "no money to pay bus fare", and even some looks very likely are from charity society with photos and brochures!

Most of them come at lunch time, when everyone gone for lunch. Almost most of them making a u-turn back to our shop after walking pass (to observe), making sure only one of us is in the shop.

The most "memorable" case is: One day, when a man walked pass, saw only my FIL doing his job inside our shop. He make a u-turn, came into our shop. Then only he noticed that hubby is there sitting behind of a column doing other things and I was sitting in front of my laptop behind the wall. He then simply find "something" to ask for. He asked for a 1 inch sponge, cut in to a square shape (just like the one he saw beside the table). Then he paid RM3.50. And he said he don't want that sponge, give it back to us! But the thing is HE PAID AND TAKE NOTHING! And he walked quickly rushing away. The whole scene only took about 3 minutes!!!

Beware, my friends! These are the way "some" people acting to earn some extra money in these days!

How to choose a Web hosting company

I'm thinking of having another blog to sell "something", set-up is in progress. But I'm still doubting whether to pay for a Web-hosting.

I found this article quite useful, do take a look!

Before deciding to spend good money on a Web-hosting company, thoroughly check it out. Go to that company’s site to find a list of features they offer. If you still have questions after perusing the Web site, look for a toll-free number to call. You won’t find any feedback ratings like you find on eBay, but the following are a few questions to ask:
  • How long have they been in business?
  • Who are some of their other clients?
  • What is their downtime-to-uptime ratio?
  • How much Web space do you get for your money?
  • What’s their data transfer limit?
  • Do they offer toll-free technical support?
  • What’s the policy on shopping carts? Does your provider charge extra for that? If so, how much?
  • What kind of statistics will you get?
  • Are there any hidden fees?
  • Are they charging exorbitant fees for setup?
  • Charging extra for statistics?
  • Imposing higher charges if your bandwidth suddenly increases?
  • How often will the Web host back up your site?

Transformers in Penang

Hubby and I were so lucky to see the Transformers road show in Penang coincidentally yesterday. The exhibition of Transformers was held in the Queensbay Mall. There were lots of Transformers mini models being showed. I'm not fans of Transformer but have to take a look since we were there!

Took photos with Tranformers paper board!

The staff is so kind, borrowing us a Transformers and also snapped us a photo.

Motors are exhibited too! The silver color one selling at RM127,900!

Nothing to do?

I'm boring sitting in front of my notebook all day long, I only need to do really few jobs in the shop. So it's just too boring!

My friends always traveling alone back from foreign country to Malaysia, I'm always wondering how they spend their time during the journey. If I were them, I may have "died" of boredom! Or may be that's why they always carrying MP4 Players with them acting as a travel companion?

I wish I never know, I have hubby as my companion forever!

Visit Singapore

I bet you all know that Great Singapore Sale is on from 29 - 26 July.

And it coincides with the Accor Hotels City Super Sale where travelers will be able to take advantage of savings of up to 60% when they book on-line between 23 - 29 June, for stays between July 10 and September 30, 2009. Hotel rates in 27 cities across 10 countries in Asia Pacific are being reduced. Over 250,000 room nights will be on sale, with rates starting as low as US$25 per night.

I am planning for a Singapore trip with the bargain hotel price offered by the Accor Hotels. I would shop till I drop! And also meeting up with my friends! With the itinerary planning from the Singapore official web site, I have got our plan as below. (I need to get hubby's permission though)

Day 1
10am - 12pm: Shopping in Orchard
2pm - 4pm: Shopping in Chinatown
4pm - 6pm: Shopping in Little India
8pm onwards: Nightlife in Singapore

Day 2
10am - 12pm: Shopping in Marina Bay
2pm - 4pm: Shopping in Riverside
4pm - 6pm: Holland Village
8pm onwards: Prepare to go home

All "shopping" planned in the itinerary! This would probably give hubby a shock when I show him!

KL or Penang?

My FIL and MIL are going holiday this weekend leaving behind hubby and I staying at home. Staying at home during weekend while nobody at home? No way!

Thus we are planning for another one day trip. The decision is up to me (hubby said), whether KL or Penang.

I dislike Penang's traffic, always jammed and busy. But the food are extremely delicious, can do some shopping also!

While KL is a great place for shopping but tiring, need to walk and walk, going shopping mall to shopping mall! However, shopping is my all time favorite!

It will only be a one day trip, no overnight staying for "cost saving" and also need to work - no holiday for self employed, all we can do is to ask my FIL to "look after" it! But we took too many day-off for the past few months, so? Just forget about it!!!

And now, back to the question, KL or Penang?

How to succeed in blogging?

I saw this article just now and would share with all my readers.

The article listed ten tips for successful blogging:
  • Be real. Identify who you are as a blogger, what you’ll be blogging about, and who your audience will be.
  • Be passionate. Blog about things you truly enjoy.
  • Write often. Anything less than once a day (during weekdays) is abandoning the potential of your blog.
  • Leave comments on other blogs. One of the most common ways that people find new blogs is through links in comments get involved
  • Have fun. Try new things and link to fun and interesting sites.
  • Push the envelope. Try something unusual
  • Ping. Pinging is something your blog software does to tell several services that you’ve posted something new.
  • Use feeds. Feeds make it easy for people to read your content on their own schedules.
  • Create meaningful titles. Good titles mean search engines find you and send you more traffic; attractive and useful titles entice readers to read your stuff.
I am getting only a few paid posts to write after the drop of my PR. Dear friends, please let me know which site you get the paid posts from. Appreciate your help!

A tough girl

I came across Yvonne Foong's site accidentally days before, I think I found her site in my blogger friend's blog list. You may have seen her on newspaper asking for donation. No harm reading her posts, you will probably realize how lucky you are.

After reading her posts (I haven't really go through all her stories), I was touched by her toughness and she is always happy looking. She is at her 20s, fighting her way through a disease named Neurofibromatosis.

Neurofibromatosis (commonly abbreviated NF) is a genetically-inherited disease in which nerve tissue grows tumors (e.g. neurofibromas) that may be harmless or may cause serious damage by compressing nerves and other tissues.

Visit her site now, give her your support!

Movie in Saturday night

It has been long since hubby and I actually went to the cinema to watch movies.

Last week, when we went Genting, my uncle's friend recommended us "Terminator Salvation". Since we don't usually have anything special to do on Saturday nights, I went Jusco, bought 2 tickets after paying bills yesterday.

Hubby wants to take some Auntie Anne's Pretzels as snack during the movie. The Auntie Anne's Pretzels are our favorite bread. Hubby and I may go Jusco just to buy each of us one pretzel, find a bench to sit, wallop it up and go home! LOL!

Tonight I'll have to bring a bigger handbag to BRING our snacks into the cinema!

Ikano Bird Park

Ikano Power Centre was holding a bird exhibition when hubby and I went to Ikea last Sunday. There are just a few birds with most of them parrots. We could also see an owl too.

Perfume

Most women have more than one perfume at home, but I have only one - Issey Miyake L'eau D'Issey. I seldom apply perfume but when we went Langkawi last holiday, I tried Bvlgari Crystalline at the duty free shop and fall in love with its smell at once. I didn't buy it at once but I'll grab it one day (when I have extra money!).

When I went shopping with my friend few weeks ago, she recommended me Davidoff Cool Water Wave, and it smells fresh like orange!

She told me that perfume in Australia is way cheaper than in Malaysia. She promised to bring me back the perfume when she comes back next holiday.

But the question is: Bvlgari Crystalline or Davidoff Cool Water Wave? or both? LOL

Give me some advice and I'll check out new perfume blog to see what's their suggestion before I decide!
